Zhu Gongshan Decodes the “Five Paradigms” of Industrial Value Leap at the 2026 World Power Battery Conference
At the afternoon plenary session, Zhu Gongshan joined Zeng Yuqun, Chairman of CATL; Liu Jincheng, Chairman of EVE Energy; Wang He, Founder of Galbot; Lu Fang, Chairman of Voyah; and other top global scientists in the battery field and representatives of leading enterprises to assess industry trends, break down industry pain points, explore development paths, and jointly draw a development blueprint.
The World Power Battery Conference is the only international conference in China’s power battery industry with global influence approved by the State Council and hosted by the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government. Since its launch in 2022, it has become a benchmark event in the power battery field based in Yibin and connected globally, as well as a platform for exchanges and cooperation among government, industry, academia, research, and application.
At the conference, Zhu Gongshan delivered a keynote speech titled “Standing in Yibin, Seeing New Paths for the Value Leap of the Battery Industry.” Zhu Gongshan said that standing in Yibin means standing at the spatiotemporal convergence point of “green electricity + batteries + zero carbon + AI.” As “electricity drives all things” brings a fission of demand space and “integration and coexistence” pushes the industry into an era of all-domain incremental growth, from Sichuan laying the foundation to Yibin taking the stage, and then to full-chain meshing and expansion of new engines, a world-class power battery industrial cluster is taking shape at an accelerated pace.
“One generation of materials, one generation of batteries—this has been the iron law of the battery industry for two decades.” Around the industrial value leap, Zhu Gongshan proposed five new paradigms: high-end upgrading of key materials to revalue material value; full-chain resource strategy to restore resource value; electricity-carbon factor-based accounting to reconstruct green value; all-domain AI adoption to reshape industrial value; and cross-sector coupling to rebuild systemic value. He also released the “Yibin Paradigm & GCL Solution,” which advances the co-creation of AI + zero-carbon parks through computing–electricity synergy, builds a global zero-carbon battery and high-end PV-energy storage industrial eco-city, and provides a replicable GCL model for the “World Battery Capital.”
At the conference, Zhu Gongshan also introduced GCL’s soon-to-be-launched GCL-PHY process flagship fifth-and-a-half-generation high-end cathode material, Jiqing C20. As the latest tribute from a chain-leader enterprise in Sichuan’s lithium battery sector, Jiqing C20 breaks through the energy density ceiling, comes with a zero-carbon gene, and is a “material chip” for the long-range era. He said that in the field of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode materials, GCL’s proprietary GCL-PHY one-step physical process achieves “zero three wastes” production (zero waste gas, wastewater, and solid waste), and its product compaction density leads the industry. The fifth-generation Jichi C18 high-compaction product has passed verification by a number of leading enterprises, empowering the 800V high-voltage fast-charging and high-end power battery fields. Meanwhile, leveraging advantages such as 600,000 tons of self-produced silane gas, CVD processes, and low carbon emissions, GCL has pioneered a new path for silicon-carbon anodes, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of next-generation new carbon materials.
It is worth mentioning that since the beginning of this year, GCL Group has achieved notable breakthroughs in its strategic layout in the power battery materials field. In May this year, GCL Lithium Energy officially released the fifth-generation mass-produced high-compaction LFP product Jichi C18 at CIBF2026; in June, GCL Technology’s Leshan Phase I 200,000-ton LFP project was successfully completed and put into production and achieved profitability, while Phase II with 200,000 tons is under accelerated construction. GCL Technology is accelerating its upgrade from a single-product champion in granular silicon to a global multi-product new energy materials platform, forming an integrated GCL ecosystem in which “silicon, lithium, and carbon advance together, and PV, energy storage, and computing synergize as three forces.”
From “good materials made by GCL, good batteries use good materials” to “PV and storage go together, with co-equal lifespan, ultra-low cost, and carbon premium,” GCL is following the collaborative path of silicon, lithium, and carbon, and of PV, storage, and computing, working with Sichuan to extend the value boundary of the battery industry from the power end to the entire energy system.
“See the world from Yibin, and define the future with value.” Zhu Gongshan said that GCL is willing to work with global partners to drive all things with electricity, integrate and coexist, and jointly create a zero-carbon future.
