GCL Ranks 65th in the 2026 China Top 500 Private Enterprises
On September 22, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce released the“2026 China Top 500 Private Enterprises”in Tianjin. GCL Group ranked 65th with annual operating revenue of RMB 145.13 billion, while also ranking 49th in the“2026 China Top 500 Private Manufacturing Enterprises,”firmly placing it in the first tier of China’s private enterprises and at the forefront of the new energy industry.
At a time of cyclical adjustment in the industry, GCL chose to“hold its position steady and move forward calmly,”treating this cycle as a window to build up its internal strength: not chasing scale or speed, but concentrating resources on technological R&D and breakthroughs in key materials. As Chairman Zhu Gongshan put it, the industry is not in the depths of winter; it is undergoing a period of species evolution in which“the spring breeze brings it back to life.”Rather than being better, be different.
Over the past year, GCL’s R&D investment intensity remained above 5% of annual revenue. It has accumulated nearly 4,000 patents, inventions, and intellectual property rights of various types, built 95 research platforms at or above the national and provincial/ministerial levels, and brought together more than 3,000 energy technology professionals. Anchored to“Tech GCL, Digital GCL, Green GCL,”it is firmly keeping technological leadership in its own hands.
Its strategic focus is shifting deeper into materials. In the silicon chain, FBR granular silicon production capacity reached 480,000 tonnes, and its carbon footprint was reduced to 14.2756 kg CO2e per kg, the lowest in the world. In the lithium chain, its proprietary GCL-PHY one-step lithium iron phosphate process achieves zero-emission production, and its 5.5th-generation high-compaction product reaches a compaction density of 2.73 g/cm³. In the carbon chain, new-generation materials such as silicon-carbon anodes are accelerating into application. With the silicon, lithium, and carbon chains advanced in parallel, GCL uses collaborative materials innovation to hedge against cyclical fluctuations in a single track.
A second growth curve for the future is also taking shape. The world’s first gigawatt-level perovskite industrial base was put into production in Kunshan; a three-terminal tandem cell won SNEC’s“Gigawatt-level Gold Award”; and perovskite modules completed in-orbit space tests.“Power-storage-computing coupling”is opening up new space: GCL is co-building a RMB 10-billion-plus intelligent computing base with Shaoguan and planning a zero-carbon intelligent computing park with tens of thousands of standard racks, while expanding its overseas AIDC business. The aggregated capacity of its self-developed“Juxing AIVP”virtual power plant remains in the first echelon in Jiangsu. In the second quarter of this year, GCL Energy Technology became a deputy secretary-general member unit of the Computing-Power Coordination Working Committee of the Internet Society of China and was selected as a core member unit of the Computing-Power Coordination Working Committee of the China Computer Industry Association, deeply participating in the drafting of industry standards.
It is reported that this year’s list is the result of the 28th survey of large-scale private enterprises conducted by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. A total of 6,350 enterprises with operating revenue of more than RMB 1 billion in 2025 participated, and the total operating revenue of the top 500 reached RMB 44.93 trillion. Against the backdrop of increasingly fierce competition among the leading group, annual fluctuations in ranking have become the norm, and operating quality beyond scale is what truly counts.
